It's time for a tech tip...why? Because it's Tuesday!
This is one I use almost every day: TED Ed
First of all, if you've never seen a TED Talk, you really owe yourself that treat. These fascinating mini-lectures are delivered by leaders in their fields on a very broad range of topics.
Over the past couple of years, the makers of TED have been developing TED Ed. This platform not only hosts a collection of short educational videos, but it also allows teachers to take ANY video currently on YouTube and build it into an online lesson. You can include your own multiple choice style questions, annotations and discussion boards to accompany the video. I use this in AP Biology to deliver lecture content that the students view outside of class. It eliminates the concern that students are just passively watching the videos--or skipping them entirely!
Here's a sample lesson on the structure of the atom: http://ed.ted.com/ lessons/just-how-small-is-an- atom#review
Click on THINK to try the multiple questions associated with the video, and DIG DEEPER for related links.
