Hour of Code Code.org

Inline image 1It's time for a tech tip...why? Because it's Tuesday!

Happy Hour of Code! This special week was initially launched in 2013 by Code.org to entice students to get involved in computer science and programming. At Marymount, we're celebrating! Not only is Adrian beginning his Co(de) Literate initiative at period 9 today, but all freshman Biology classes are taking a full class period to learn the basic coding behind a computer game. We're hoping that these hands-on experiences will entice our students to learn more.

For today's tech tip, I encourage you all to join with the freshmen and participate in our Hour of Code. I'm attaching our presenter file along with the worksheet that accompanies the activity, which is appropriate for beginner programmers with little to no experience. The full activity should take about an hour to complete. Here's a screenshot from the video game I customized:

Enjoy!
